Book Review – The Hunger Games

I can’t remember the last time I’ve finished a book in 3 days. Granted, it was a long weekend, but this book has been absolutely riveting from beginning to end.

It’s actually a trilogy, and I’ve already placed an order on Kalahari for the other 2 books in the set.

The story is set in the future (I’m guessing around 2090 or so), where food is scarce and war has broken out.
As a massive televised reality show, 1 boy and 1 girl aged between 12-18 from 12 districts (so 24 kids in total) all go to an isolated place (like Survivor), and have to compete against eachother until only 1 is alive. So they have to find food, shelter, and think of ways to kill eachother.
It sounds kind of gruesome, but the main character is really endearing and it is a relatively easy read- you don’t have to think too hard.
It also gets you thinking about what life will be like in the future, and it opens your mind up to new and strange possibilities.

Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.
