For those of you who don’t know, I’m writing Level 2 of the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) exam. It’s not anything more difficut than what I did in university, but the volume is just insane! Balancing that between work and everything else has proved to be quite a challenge.
I’ll be quiet over the next 2 weeks as I’ll be in and out of the office taking study leave, so please forgive me. In June, I’ll be back with a boom!
The only thing that is keeping me sane right now is the thought of what 2012 holds for me. I have tons of getaways planned (one a month!) and I am almost bursting with excitement at all of it. I’m one of those people who puts EVERYTHING on Microsoft Outlook, so I keep scrolling down my calendar to give me happiness 🙂
Here is where I will be going:
June: Indigo Bay Resort, Mozambique.
The resort and the island are both amazing. I can’t wait to spend time on the beach (in SA Winter!) and just chill. It’s hot all year round there so it’s going to be fab.
July: Kievitskroon , Gauteng
I’ve been to Kievitskroon before and I love it. They call it the Winelands of Gauteng and it definitely lives up to its name. The rooms are lovely and the spa is out of this world. They also do gourmet dinners.
August: Cape Town
If you’ve read the post about my top 10 holiday memories, you’ll know that Cape Town is my favourite local destination. There’s always so much to do. This trip is going to be particularly special because I’ll be staying at the One and Only (Oh Em Gee) and Majeka House, both 5 star and tres luxurious! I’ll also be dining at some of CT’s best, including the Test Kitchen, Reuben’s and Nobu.
Luke Dale Roberts’ Test Kitchen has recently been voted number 57 in the WORLD- so I’m sure that’s going to be fantastic. It’s actually really interesting to check out websites of some of the top 10. The winner (an eatery in Denmark) charges a cool R2250 for a meal there! If you’d like to see who the top 50 are, go here.

I’m also planning a weekend bush getaway at Clifftop – an “Exclusive Safari Hideaway”. I like bush if its classy, and this definitely fits the bill. The pic below is their lounge area- how divine does it look?!
I’ve been going on about my USA Dream Holiday for a while now, and have probably been researching it for the past year. Problem is, my husband is not AS excited about it as I am, and wants to hold off until next year. He says that we’ve been going on too many holidays. (Is there even such a thing?!) I would go RIGHT NOW if I could and don’t want to wait any longer. I have the whole thing planned, I just need him to say yes. We decided we’d discuss it after CFA (he’s also writing). Holding thumbs!
if when we go, I’ve picked Distrikt hotel to stay at in New York. It has great reviews on Trip Advisor and is reasonably priced.
October: Royal Chundu, Zambia
I’ve been to the Victoria Falls before, but I saw the Falls from the Zimbabwean side. Really excited to see the Zambian side. We’ll be staying in an Island Villa at Royal Chundu which is just absolutely spectacular.
Nothing planned for the remainder of the year yet, but a December ski holiday is POSSIBLY on the cards 😉
You only live once, right! And I think it’s really important to travel as much as possible before we settle down with kids etc (still a long way from now, but still).
Just writing this post lifted my spirits, so thanks for sharing in my excitement 🙂
Work hard, play harder!
