BiCE Ristorante launches a new menu

Some time ago, I went to a media lunch at BiCE Ristorante in Southern Sun Hyde Park. Alot of other foodies were present, and I got to meet with my sweet friend Milla from House and Leisure Mag, as well as with Thando from Jozi Foodie Fix.

Did you know that the BiCE Ristorante Group holds 60 properties globally? The CEO of the company, Raffaele Ruggeri was present at the lunch, and I think he is the best looking man I have ever seen in my life. He looks like a Calvin Klein model, the ones that walk on the beach in white linen. In addition, he’s also incredibly charismatic.

Let’s get the swooning out the way so I can talk about the food (these pictures don’t even do him justice):

Southern Sun has tried to create an authentic Italian fine dining experience with BiCE, and as of June, they will launch a new lunch menu, which incorporates current international trends for Italian cuisine.
Because I only had a limited amount of time, I was only able to be there for half the event so I missed out on dessert and the main course unfortunately. Bar the prawns, which were mushy, I really enjoyed everything else I tried.

Tuna tartar

Grilled prawns with asparagus and seafood ragout
Seafood risotto with baby zucchini and tomatos

Lobster ravioli with white sauce and black truffle

Kingklip with porcini mushrooms and asparagus sauce and grilled seabass with lemon potatoes

Classic Italian tiramisu and BiCE apple pie

If you do go for dinner, make sure to pop by next door to the Rooftop bar. You’ve probably been there already, but if you haven’t- you really need to! It has a great view and I love going their for sundowners and some tempura prawn california rolls.

You can access the hotel’s restaurant and bar via the parking lot at Hyde Park Shopping Centre, just go to the lifts in the middle of the parkade.
