Night Out For 2 at Montecasino is a pretty sweet deal*

Although I may not be a fan of malls and indoor spaces, I always like to take advantage of a good deal. I like to give myself a little pat on the back when I’ve scored a bargain 🙂 When Groupon first launched, I was probably their biggest supporter.

I know loads of you enjoy hanging out at Montecasino, so I thought the “Night Out for 2” promo may be of interest to you. It’s really good value. Here are the options:

Includes R300 Casino voucher and R150 drinks voucher

Includes R200 Casino voucher and R120 drinks voucher

Includes R100 Casino voucher and R80 drinks voucher
I’m usually quite skeptical at these special offers because I always feel like there’s going to be a catch. When buying Groupons previously, I’ve sometimes felt discriminated at restaurants vs. normal paying guests. We tried out the R550 package, and had dinner at the Meat Co, which is quite an expensive restaurant. There seemed to be a waiting list for normal paying guests, but I think the restaurants reserve a certain number of tables each night for this special, so were taken to a table immediately, and given complimentary bread to munch on before we ordered. We didn’t feel awkward or uncomfortable at all- the manager was just as friendly to us as he was to everyone else.

We were each entitled to a 3 course meal, but weren’t able to choose from their normal menu and were given a reduced menu to select our options from instead. This was perfectly fine, because there are 3 options for both starters and mains (including a veg and chicken option), and we could choose any dessert we wanted from the normal menu. We found the portions huge and ended up taking half home which we enjoyed with a salad the next day for lunch- score!

We then used our movie tickets to watch Grown Ups 2 which was such a laugh. The casino and drinks vouchers are valid for a month after the day you purchase the special, so we saved these for another time because we were quite tired by the end of the evening.

The lower packages are equally good value- all the restaurants are nice and I don’t think there’s much you can get for R350/ R450 per couple these days.

If you want, you can even top up your package with a stay at one of the hotels at Montecasino.

You can book your tickets at the Computicket desk at Montecasino, just in front of the teatro. More info here.
