The Boardwalk Hotel in PE*

I’ve always thought about PE in the context of “going home” and never as a weekend getaway or holiday destination. This year, I’ve been travelling to PE at least once every 6 weeks after my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer. On that note, thanks for all the sweet messages of support I’ve received. It hasn’t been easy, especially now as he is deteriorating quickly, but I’m okay.

Some time ago, I had the opportunity to stay at the newly opened 5 star Boardwalk hotel in PE, and it made me see the city in a completely different light. Instead of waking up to a view of other houses, I witnessed the most gorgeous sunrise. The hotel opened quite recently so everything is still sparkly and new. If you know PE, you’ll know that you really need to stay on the beach, because that’s where the (little that the city has) action is. What’s even better, is that the hotel is connected to the Boardwalk, so you don’t have to go very far to have a selection of restaurants and entertainment options nearby.

The rooms are of a generous size, and are furnished in rich, warm tones. They come complete with a flatscreen tv, luxurious bathroom and balcony.

Before The Boardwalk hotel, I honestly can’t remember the last time a 5 star hotel opened in PE, so I think it’s safe to say that the other hotel options are probably quite dated. The breakfast buffet was definitely 5 star quality, with everything under the sun on offer. Africology spa has also opened there- I didn’t experience a treatment, but if it is anything like the Jozi Africology spas, I’m sure it’s fabulous!

A special thanks goes to First Car Rental for sponsoring me a vehicle during my trip.
