3 Reasons to Stay at Suncoast Towers Next Time You’re in Durban

A few weekends ago, I flew up to Durban for one of my closest friend’s weddings. I was hosted at the 5 star Suncoast Towers in Durban and I just fell in love with it. It’s super luxurious without being huge and impersonal. Here are 3 reasons I think it’s awesome.

1. Location

Situated in the heart of Durban’s famous Golden Mile, you can literally step outside your room and be on the promenade. A few steps further and you’re on the beach. The hotel has its own private entrance with direct access. I maximised on this  both mornings I was there, and joined the hundreds of walkers and joggers on the beach. It’s difficult for me to believe that this kind of lifestyle is normal for people in DBN and CT. If Jozi had a beach, it would be perfect! The hotel is also adjoined to Suncoast, making getting a snack or catching a movie super easy. It has a resort kind of vibe, I could have spent hours lazing by the pool with my book and a cocktail.

3. Jeera Restaurant

I was really excited to try out Jeera restaurant, located in the hotel. Head chef, Sandren Govender, tried and tested different condiments over months, giving each dish its own regional influence and flavour. I loved that the menu isn’t just North Indian, it also features some regular South African Indian favourites, like beans curry and bunnies. Durban is renowned for its curries, and Tsogo Sun realised that there was a gap in the market for an upmarket restaurant which offered this. We opted to order off the a la carte menu, rather than the buffet, and were really impressed at the food.

Thanks to Tsogo Sun for hosting me, and a big thank you to First Car Rental, my car hire of choice, for providing me with a rental vehicle during my stay.
