Now that I’ve been to most of places I always wanted to see in the US, I already have my eyes set on my next vacation in that vicinity. I have no idea when or how this will happen, but I’m super keen to go to Mexico. Mainly because I love Mexican food, but also because it looks amazing.
I love beach holidays but also like city trips just as much, and Mexico seems to have a bit of everything. Cancun in particular looks awesome- pristine beaches, legendary archaeological sites (it is the gateway to the Mayan World) and of course the night life. I was completely fascinated at seeing sites like the Acropolis and Pompeii, so I’d love to explore the Mayan ruins, Chichen Itza in particular, which was named one of the new 7 wonders of the world and dates back to the 7th century.
After that, I’d like to go somewhere a bit quieter, like to the Pacific Coast, more specifically, a place called Puerto Vallarta. It seems similar to Seychelles in that it’s beach surrounded by leafy mountains, but I think it has more of a pedestrian vibe because there’s a beautiful promenade and some trendy shopping streets. There’s also an old town with cobbled streets- my best 🙂 There are also TONS of beaches to pick from- some are lined with luxury hotels, while others are more remote.
Finally, I absolutely have to go to Mexico City. It’s divided into 16 boroughs, which are further subdivided into neighbourhoods. 20 MILLION people live there, so I can only imagine that it is crazy- just what I love! There is a historic city centre, a massive urban park that contains a zoo, amusement park plus museums and of course, a few fab shopping areas. The selection of clubs, bars, restaurants and cafes is mind-boggling.
First Choice looks like they have some great options, but I need to lock down a potential itinerary first before enquiring as to prices. I don’t really have an idea of what my schedule for the next few months looks like, but Mexican winters seem quite cold, with temperatures dropping to zero, so I think early or late Summer (May or August) would be a good time to visit. Have any of you guys been? Please let me know your tips if you have.
