Pigalle Restaurant at Melrose Arch

If you’ve read my “Best of Jozi” post, you’ll know that Pigalle is one of my favourite seafood restaurants in JHB. I always recommend it when friends ask me for a romantic spot to celebrate a special occasion. The service is always impeccable, and the restaurant just exudes class and opulence- from the L’Occitane toiletries in the bathroom, to the Moët proudly displayed at the bar. It’s not cheap, but this isn’t the type of place you’d go to for a drink and a bite to eat after work. It’s fine dining at its best. Living far far away from the sea, we often get the horrid frozen “boxed” fish at restaurants. Pigalle definitely has seafood down to a fine art- all their dishes are fresh and flavourful.

Yes, I think it’s safe to assume that they will stock your drink of choice

This is only half the wine cellar!
Sushi bar
Pigalle also has a VIP area (through the glass doors above.) Kim and Khloe Kardashian were hosted there a few years back!

Lounge area at the entrance of the restaurant

The experience from start to finish is fantastic. There is someone at the door to welcome you. Once you are seated, the most delicious warm bread rolls are brought to the table- my absolute weakness!

Have a look at what we enjoyed there this weekend…

Lightly curried butternut soup
Haloumi salad

Prawns dusted with tandoori spice, shallow fried then mounted on warm julienne vegetables and accompanies with a papino and coriander salsa

Pigalle Melrose Arch is hosting a Women’s Day lunch this week Thursday. For R350 per person, you’ll get a 4 course wine paired meal (similar to the deliciousness above), a goody bag, and a chance to win over R25,000 in prizes.

If you live far away from Melrose Arch, do not despair. There are Pigalle branches at Sandton and Bedfordview, as well as in Cape Town.
