Behind the Scenes: My Eastern Mosaic Shoot at Food, Wine, Design Fair

Earlier this year, Eastern Mosaic contacted me and asked me if I wanted to be on their show. Obvs, I said yes, and we did a shoot at Neighbourgoods Market in Braamfontein. We chatted about my blog, how I started, and tasted some of the food at the market. You can view the behind the scenes post of that shoot here and can view the clip here

I was really excited when EM asked me to shoot with them again this past weekend. It’s been a bumper year end press wise, I have a story published in Getaway Magazine, and interviews in Get It and Destiny Magazines- all December issues!

This time we decided to shoot at the Food, Wine, Design fair in Hyde Park. I haven’t been in JHB during previous fairs over the last few years so this was actually my first one. I went to the launch event and LOVED it- I know the girl who curated it and she did an amazing job- each stall was unique and it was nothing run of the mill. There was tons of stuff on offer- everything from gorgeous lampshades to boutique clothing to imported tea. I loved the aesthetic set up of the stalls too.

So I arrived there at 9:30am on Saturday, after having my eyebrows threaded at 7:45am and my hair done at 8am- hectic!! I got a taste of what it’s like to be on tv and it’s actually very tiring. I have huge respect for tv presenters. TV looks a lot more glamourous than it actually is. We had to film the same “scene” 4 or 5 times to get it from different angles, and to make sure it was perfect. The shoot took 5 hours in total- in blistering heat and heels!

We started off with an interview about what I’ve been up to recently. As you know, I’ve been particularly busy lately travelling loads- so I had quite a bit to share. We chatted about what I like about fairs such as FWD, and what my favourite stalls were.

We then walked around and visited a few stalls. It was such fun, but I was dead by the end of it!

Here are some pics from the day. It will probably only be aired in about 2 months’ time, but I’ll keep you guys posted 🙂
